Historically, the first coins were developed independently as far apart as Archaic Greece and Ancient China around 600-700 BC. By the time the Roman Empire was established, they began using a standardized Roman currency. Yaudheya Republic 200-300's C.E. Origin: Ancient North West India (Punjab and Northern Rajasthan area).

Obverse: Kartikeya (God of Victory - with a peacock on his feet). Reverse: Goddess Shasthi. An ancient warrior tribe who are named after Yudhisthira of the Mahabharta  epic. Today both Sikhs and Rajputs can claim decent from this tribe.
